Anh-Duy is a visionary Hanoi-based theatre artist who has honed his craft through relentless experimentation and independent study, specializing in directing and scenography. His theatrical journey began in 2019 performing for his secondary school’s 10 year anniversary show, where he first-hand witnessed the transformative storytelling capability of performances. 

 

Anh-Duy’s work is defined by its immersive quality, breaking the fourth wall to create a shared active performer-audience experience. His signature piece, Counterfate, exemplifies this approach, transforming the theatre into a dynamic environment where stage and seating areas dissolve with ever-evolving sets and mobile auditoriums. 

 

Delving into human nature, Anh-Duy uses surreal narratives to examine how beliefs and behaviors shape our identities as he seeks to discover his own. His pieces often explore themes of transformation, visceral trauma, alienation and growth. Through experimental concepts, Anh-Duy invites audiences to confront their own humanity, fostering profound connections - both within and without.
